Mom's wedding dress is going to be a possibility for my reception!
I couldn't believe when I went for my fitting and my mom's dress was all apart. My wonderful seamstress put in panels and now I can wear the top of my mom's wedding dress. I didn't think it would be an emotional thing but it was. I never imagined I would wear my mom's wedding dress and now I was. This is just the top. Maria (my seamstress) had also taken apart the sleeve to try an make some scallops for the bottom. I was so excited- I made her take this picture. Oh and that's my full skirt for the shower. I love this skirt! Maybe it doesn't look good now with part of a wedding dress and no head but it is really nice. I just hope being so short I can pull it off.

This is the dress we are using as a model

A trip to the candy store and I bought something green. I really wanted to have more green in the wedding but I'd doing pretty good at sneaking it in when I can:

We are having an adult receptions but there will be children in the wedding party attending the wedding and this will be their favor-Wind-up monkey on a green bike and green candy.
Check out these cute alpine hats- I found 3 of them on sale for .25 at a church sale. We have 3 little guys in the wedding party- think they'll put them on for 1 picture?

Aren't these shower invitations AWESOME?!?!

My wonderful super B future sister-in-law did these for my shower! I love everthing about these. The colors and fonts are perfect. The bow is awesome and I'm hot over the swirl design on the envelope. I shouldn't be surprised I know Becky is talented but they're perfect. I really love them and Becky!

Where does wedding inspiration come from?
I've been thinking about my wedding and my ideas and noticed a theme of some sort. I was still unsure what you would call it. I didn't realize what it was that got me going until I was at the mall this weekend. I fell in love with a skirt! A full skirt- why? AMC- I figure: Mad Men. Before I moved I used to watch Mad Men at night, but lately not so good about it. The final episode of season 2 is Sept. 28th at 10! I'm going to make it a point to watch.

Let's not forget the men:

The show is about a fictitious 1960s Madison Avenue ad adgency. The ad-men are always in sharp suits and the secretaries are in their cahmere sweaters and pencil skirts. It's all retro-styled and more than a few designers have been inspired by the show.

Here's Bloomingdales window before season 2:

So I've been confused about a purse for my wedding and have been looking and looking. I seen a couple at David's Bridal- but was unsure if I was going to dye my purse the same color as my shoes- which will be green. Then I seen one of them on Mad Men- check it out- it's even a cool green!

I ended up purchasing the skirt with a gift card and I'm thinking I will wear it to my shower!

Speaking of my shower- yesterday I seen my invites which I will post tomorrow. Wait till you see them!

Make-up!
Well I have gone for a make-up consultation and was so happy.....until I got home and my future groom said I look pale : (
Well he did say I look better when I do my own make-up.....and that I look better natural----yeah yeah. I was believing him up until the better natural look. lol

Here's a quick shot- (with me also trying on my veil)

I hate pictures of myself no matter what - but I really liked my make-up!
Dorene the designer is wonderful.
Now I must comment on my weight loss/exercise-
I'm just getting over a cold and I was so exhausted that I wasn't eating good or exercising as much.
I've decided I need to eat more than 3 meals a day and I need to make sure I have healthy food available. I still have to cook for Lucas and Rob so I need to make sure I have healthy food for me. I'm going to shoot for Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Snack!
That sounds like a lot of food. Actually they will be small portions:

Example- Breakfast @ 6:15
2 Egg Whites, 1 slice canadian bacon

Actually took a pic this morning!

Snack: 1/4 c. fat free cottage cheese
1c fresh fruit- blueberries
Lunch: 2 diced hardboiled egg whites
2tbs lite mayo, 2 olives
1/4c. tomatoes & sprouts
on whole grain bread
Snack: fat free ranch dressing mix
veggie sticks
Dinner: 2oz lean beef
green beans w/olive oil
1 med. sweet potato
mixed salad greens with wine vinegar/olive oil
Snack:
1 c. strawberries
2 tbs fat free whipped topping
Seems pretty easy- right?
Next item for discussion:
Favors:
We were all set on carmel apples until I seen these and thought they were aborable:

I like these because they make me think of Rob.

I like carmel apples - because they are a true sign of fall and I love them.

That's all for now!

Craft News- Well I've been picking times when friends and family can get together with me and do some items for the wedding and here's what we did this weekend:
PomPoms for over the head table!
And they don't look like lettuce (see previous post for lettuce)

My future sister-in-law Becky came over and helped me with these- and Thank God! She was awesome! So precise

My mother found and ordered the huge tissue paper and was great at fluffing our poms.

My sister-in-law Nicole worked on the intials! The intials are looking great:
Is there a Doctor in the house????

Look at my great craft- impressive - huh?
Well I just wanted a bow on my cake knife to match our wedding cake...it wasn't as easy as it looks....lol
These cake knifes were super inexpensive but look good!

I also put my stickers on the lip balm I purchased to have in the ladies room at the wedding - just incase there's a girl in need of some gloss.
I love these!

Here's a few pics of some purchases:
We found these votive holders at a dollar store- we purchased enough to line our huge headtable. Found some brown and green ribbon in the sales bin- so can't have enough brown around!

Last but not least- the card I bought for Rob on our wedding day- still working on a gift.

Weight info- Lost 2lbs and feeling pretty good about myself- I guess. Have to stay positive.

It's 911 Did you put your Flag out?

I will never forget that morning- I was never so confused and scared. As we watched the 1st building fall- I can still remember my father saying, "Oh...no". We like couldn't believe our eyes. My mother and I just starting crying. All I could think about was the people who were just going to work that morning only to die.
This is the day I became very much aware that there are people out there who hate us just because we are Americans.
Rob hung our flag this morning and put one on his work truck.
God Bless America

Who said you lose weight before the wedding?

No I'm not the hot blonde- I'm the brunette sticking her gut out! I don't know what my problem is, but all I want to do is eat. This picture was taken a weekend ago when we were visiting Rob's parents. The blonde is Rob's sister. The good thing is that on this weekend visit I actually went jogging with Becky! Well- I went and I stopped a lot! But Becky kept me going she would let me stop for a bit and then ask to jog again. Becky was so nice about it. We then did my 8 minute abs dvd- it was great to work-out with someone.

Right now I work out alone when Rob and Lucas are sleeping usually. It's boring and lonely but I do feel the need to workout- well I'm scared about my dress!

I have dvds I alternate - but 8 minute abs is an every night must!

I must say I'm so thankful for Rob and Lucas! They help me out a lot with giving me time to workout and or joining me for a walk/jog. I love these guys!

Here they are waiting for the school bus on Lucas' 1st day of 6th grade.

Well things are really moving. We made a visit to the rental shop and well that was pricey-but the items I picked I think will look sharp. The table setting is really hard for me. I'm going with ivory and chocolate overlay and ivory napkins. Napkin folds are something I'm still researching and deciding on - based on if I will have a menu card or not.

Saturday 2 good friends along with my mother got together with me and we made my pew bows. These were very simple elegant enough for my ceremony.

They are simple looking- I like them.

My sister in-law Nicole started on our initials that originally seen on An Excited Bride Blog. They are going to be great! She did a great job so far.

Our next craft is the tissue paper pom poms. As seen on Martha Stewart. I scouted around and did find some on-line that people did according to Martha's directions and they looked really good. If you ever have time check out: http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/

Here are her pom poms:

Don't laugh- here is our 1st attempt:

Looks more like lettuce!

Am I scared, worried- oh yes

That's why I purchased is:http://www.marthastewartcrafts.com/detail.php?p=63725&v=msc_holi_halloween

So that way I see it and maybe learn all the tricks to making the pom poms. These candy corn pom poms can decorate our Halloween Rehearsal.

Dress update:

This is the last picture of this dress.....it's off to be taken apart and given new life.

I purchased 2 of these hearts for the backs of our bride and groom chairs. Yes- they need a little TLC.
